Banging head on desk. [Jan. 27th, 2007|08:11 am]
Just received the following e-mail from someone in Italy:

"Hi. They are interested to purchase this dressed, but I have various measures. I wanted to know if you can reproduce this model on measure, the time that employed in order to make dressed and the cost. Many thank's. Regards "

I think I speak for all of us when I say, "eh?"

I have a hard enough time sewing for people with whom I can easily communicate. I don't believe I want to take a shot at this one.

A couple small changes to D*C plans [Jan. 23rd, 2007|08:15 am]
[whether I'm currently radioactive | contemplative]

I just could NOT get excited about Morrigan. Not only does it terrify me to imagine wearing a leotard that is basically a g-string with northbound pretentions, but trying to navigate wings through crowded halls just doesn't float my boat. I want to be comfy, yeah. </p>

So I've replaced Morrigan on my lineup with Donna Troy. This is actually a character that I'd HEARD of before and really like LOL. If necessary, I can wear Spanx under the dratted thing for extra firmness, and life will be wonderful.

So, here we go.

Donna Troy

Verona

Sleepy Hollow Peach

Another small change - rather than do the blue gown from MA, I'm going to do one of the masquerade gowns, the green and black one.

BS Dracula - Green Velvet Gown

My sixth that I really, really, I can't describe how badly, want to do, is this version of Elektra:

This is obviously one that would require a firm (pun intended) commitment to diet and exercise for the next six months, so I'm going to keep it in reserve and IF I get to the point where I'd look good in it, then being able to wear it to D*C will be my reward.

I've come to the realization that I have a destructive, possibly financially ruinous level of ADD when it comes to the costumes that I want to do for D*C.

I have to continually remind myself that barring the second coming, this is NOT the only year that I'll be able to go to D*C. There will be future years, with many opportunities to do costumes.

Lemoine keeps mentioning characters and costumes that I've never heard of (not that this is difficult, since I know exactly squat about superheroes, comics or anime). I'll look it up and think HOLY COW! I wanna do that one! But I cannot. No, really.

The only one that I am seriously considering adding to my list at the moment is Elektra. I don't know why that one has caught my attention, but it has. Boy, would that ever be on the list of things to worry about only if I do manage to lose half my body weight by then. But I am going to tentatively add it to the list, and see where things go.

I think I have managed to get down what I'm going to try to do for DC.

Morrigan
Bram Stoker's Dracula - the deep green v-necked gown from the end of the film
Marie Antoinette - the blue gown
Van Helsing - Verona
Sleepy Hollow - the peach gown
40's/Rockabilly starlet outfit

I think I'm going to put off the haunted stroll outfit until another year. It's the one I feel least strongly about at this point.

I wouldn't mind having a couple more to take as extras, since I've never done DC before I don't have a costume wardrobe to take spares out of. But I'm going to focus on these six, try to get them knocked out as great as I can, and then if I have extra time (stop laughing at me) at the end, I might try to put together a couple more.

Celebrity Lookalikes [Oct. 16th, 2006|09:59 am]
I discovered this thing on myheritage.com today, where you upload a photo of yourself, and it scans the image and tells you what celebrities you resemble in facial structure. It does not take things like hair color, eye color or skin tone into account.

So I run it on me, and I get this:

Okay, not bad! Several of them are younger than me so I must be aging well, and you could do worse than to look like these women.

First day of school. [Aug. 9th, 2006|08:30 am]
Just dropped the chicklets off for school. I'm not sure which one sucked more. Chicklet #3 just started kindergarten so I'm without him for the first time in his life, which sucks. Chicklet #1, however, glared at me and wanted me to go away because I might embarrass her in front of her 7th grade friends. I knew this day was coming, but you're never prepared for it.

Going to throw myself into my work today. That's the only way to get through it until I get used to it. At least I still have my baby dogs! They look like they're playing Where's Waldo except Prince Raven is who they're looking for. They can't understand why he's not here torturing them as usual.

Looooooonnnnnnnnnng time until 2:45.
